Death of MBBS student due to ragging in Gujarat, FIR lodged against 15 seniors

On Saturday night, Methaniya and other first-year students reportedly endured severe “mental and physical torture,” which included being forced to stand for over three hours, sing, and face verbal abuse during a so-called “introduction” session. Methaniya collapsed during this ordeal and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The students accused of this behavior are facing serious charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, unlawful confinement, and using abusive language under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The college has suspended the accused from both hostel and academic activities, and its anti-ragging committee has begun taking statements from those involved. Authorities are actively continuing their investigation.
