‘We don’t have sandpaper, Guru’..; Virat Kohli responds sharply to Aussie fans as he leads Team India without Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah

Sydney: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series between India and Australia has concluded, with Pat Cummins’ team winning the series 3-1 and taking home the trophy.
In the final match at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Australia defeated India, securing the series 3-1. This marked the first time in over a decade that India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, handing it over to the Australian team.
Virat Kohli’s brutal response to Australian crowd
During the match, India’s Virat Kohli made a sharp retort to Australian cricket fans. The Aussie supporters were constantly taunting him, and Kohli responded by addressing the “sandpaper” issue. When Australia’s batter Steve Smith was dismissed in the second innings, Kohli turned towards the Aussie fans, pulled out his pocket, and showed them that there was nothing in it, implying there was no “sandpaper” hidden there. This was Kohli’s response to the taunts.

Kohli, who took over the captaincy in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, fired back at the Australian fans, reminding them of the infamous “sandpaper” scandal from the 2018 South Africa tour, which had led to bans for Australian players Steve Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft.
Kohli showed the fans a gesture, indicating that there was nothing in his pocket, signaling that there was no sandpaper, and making it clear that Indian players didn’t resort to such tactics, unlike the Australian players. This moment quickly went viral on social media.
Aussie fans accused Bumrah of using sandpaper
Before this, the controversy around the use of sandpaper was raised again when Australian fans accused India’s Jasprit Bumrah of using it. Fans repeatedly taunted Indian players, suggesting that Bumrah had something hidden in his shoes.
After the second day’s play of the Sydney Test, some Australian fans accused the Indian team of using sandpaper. A video showing bits of paper or cloth coming out of Indian players’ boots began circulating, sparking a similar debate on social media.
