Washington: With the goal of improving the country’s economy, Donald Trump, who has returned to power, has now hinted at abolishing income tax in America.
Trump has spoken about his inclination to eliminate income tax and compensate for it by increasing tariffs on imports.
On January 27, 2025, speaking to House Republicans in Florida, Trump unveiled his plan to thoroughly review the American tax system to ease the burden on American workers and businesses.
As a strong proponent of the “America First” policy, Trump emphasized his goal of reducing the financial strain on American citizens.
He specifically criticized China and India for imposing higher tariffs and vowed to take action against countries harming the U.S. economy.
Trump’s Aggressive Approach on Trade and Immigration
Trump has also vowed to crack down on illegal immigration, with reports of increased inspections on Gurdwaras by U.S. authorities.
“We will impose tariffs on foreign countries and foreign individuals,” Trump stated. Reiterating his aggressive stance on international trade, he suggested that by increasing tariffs on foreign goods, the U.S. government could fund public initiatives without taxing its own citizens—a statement that hints at his plan to abolish income tax in America.

Support for Corporate Tax Cuts
Trump reaffirmed his support for corporate tax cuts, continuing to advocate for lowering the corporate income tax rate from 21% to 15%. His tax proposals have received strong support from wealthy Americans and large corporations, but critics argue that such policies could widen economic inequality.
Focus on Reviving American Manufacturing
Notably, Trump’s plan extends beyond tax reform. He is pushing to bring back manufacturing to American soil. He encouraged businesses—especially in key industries such as pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and steel—to relocate factories to the U.S. to avoid tariffs.
“If you don’t want to pay taxes or tariffs, you should build your factories right here in America,” Trump declared.
