America Plane-Helicopter Collision: All 67 Passengers Dead, 28 Bodies Recovered

Authorities have reported that at least 28 bodies have been retrieved from the ice-covered waters of the Potomac River.
Arlington: An American Airlines jet carrying 60 passengers and four crew members collided with a military helicopter in a devastating accident, resulting in the death of all passengers and crew aboard both aircraft, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The collision occurred on Wednesday night near Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, as the helicopter attempted to land.
Following the impact, both the helicopter and the jet plunged into the river. Authorities have so far recovered at least 28 bodies from the icy waters of the Potomac River.

“At this stage, we do not believe there are any survivors. As a result, we are now shifting from a rescue operation to a recovery mission,” said Washington Fire Department Chief John Donnelly.

The plane was found submerged in three parts, flipped upside down in the water. Wreckage from the helicopter has also been discovered, and the search for more bodies continues, Donnelly added.
Officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are present at the crash site.
