Toronto: U.S. President Donald Trump recently made headlines by stating that Canada is part of the United States and would be the 51st state.

A report by the Canadian news agency CBC has revealed Justin Trudeau’s views on Trump’s statement during a confidential meeting with businesspeople and labor party leaders. Trudeau’s remarks were accidentally picked up by a microphone.

Trump’s statement about Canada becoming the 51st state is considered a serious issue. According to Trudeau, the underlying intention behind this statement is to take control of Canada’s rich natural resources.

Trudeau said, “The easiest way for them to take our natural resources would be to make our country a part of theirs. That’s the reality.” As he was explaining this during the meeting, the microphone suddenly went mute, according to the CBC report.

Trudeau continued, “They know very well what we have and want to profit from it,” referring to Canada’s natural resources.

Despite requests for a response regarding this report, Trudeau‘s office has not yet commented.

On a post on the social platform X, the President of the Alberta Federation of Labor, Gil McGowan, confirmed Trudeau’s statement.

“Yes, Trumps really not concerned about fentanyl, immigration, or trade imbalances. What he really wants is dominance over Canada and to fully make it a part of the United States,” McGowan wrote, confirming Trudeau’s remarks.

Trump has repeatedly stated that it would be better if Canada agreed to become the 51st state of the U.S.

Trump has also agreed to a 30-day suspension on imposing a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada, and announced a 10% tariff on Canada’s oil, natural gas, and electricity.
