Cyclone DANA to hit Odisha with Wind speed 120kmph
Cyclone DANA has started forming over east central Bay of Bengal and is expected to hit landmasses near Bhitarkanika and Dhamra areas of Odisha. The speed of wind is predicted to be 100 to 120kms per hour and will hit on the midnight of 24th October.
Districts on Focus of Government
The cyclone will also trigger heavy rainfall in coastal areas of Odisha and expected to be heavily affected. Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak , Balasore districts of Odisha will feel the maximum speed of wind and heavy rain fall . All these districts have been on a high alert and the administration have issued an order to shift to a designated shelters provided by the Government.
The State Revenue and Disaster management Minister Suresh Pujari said around 5000 shelters and relieve centres have been made available by the administration and people have been instructed to vacate vulnerable areas by Wednesday evening. The number of people evacuating is expected to be around 10 lakh .
Effect on price of Daily Essentials:
The price of daily essentials has started peaking. People are buying daily essentials to last long for next 15days . So the increased demand of vegetables, food grains and all required essentials have directly affected the price leading to peak.
Few tourists who have already been in Odisha are struck as the railway department has cancelled most of the trains.
Deployment of NDRF and ODRAF teams:
The Government has deployed over 20 terms of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) including several fire service personnel and over 20 NDRF teams have already been in action.
