While Trump had a positive rapport with Khan during his presidency, especially over security and Afghanistan, analysts caution that U.S. foreign policy has shifted toward a more transactional relationship with Pakistan, focusing on strategic security concerns rather than political interference

Moreover, any assumptions about Trump directly influencing Pakistan’s internal politics may overlook the broader dynamics of U.S. relations with the Pakistani military and its regional priorities.
