Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed the legitimacy of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), asserting that it will not hinder Israel’s right to self-defense. The warrant charges Netanyahu and others with crimes against humanity amid the recent conflict in Gaza.

Netanyahu has characterised the accusations as politically driven, labelling them as antisemitic and an effort to undermine Israel’s actions against Hamas. He further stated that Israel, being a democratic nation with an independent judiciary, is equipped to handle such matters on its own. Critics contend that Israel has not sufficiently investigated the allegations related to the conflict, which has led to the ICC’s involvement. The United States has condemned the ICC’s action, reaffirming its long-held stance that the court does not have jurisdiction over non-member states like Israel.
