India Celebrates 75th Constitution Day: Honouring the Spirit of Democracy
New Delhi, November 26, 2024:India proudly marked its 75th Constitution Day today, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution on November 26, 1949. The day serves as a tribute to the vision of the framers of the Constitution and celebrates the principles of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity that guide the nation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and other dignitaries attended the grand celebrations at the Central Hall of Parliament. The President led the nation in reading the Preamble, reaffirming India’s commitment to its democratic ideals.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said, “The Constitution is not just a legal document but the foundation of our democracy and a guiding light for our collective progress. On this 75th Constitution Day, let us renew our pledge to uphold the values enshrined in it.”
The event also included a special exhibition showcasing the making of the Constitution, featuring handwritten drafts, rare photographs of the drafting committee, and contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution.
Schools, colleges, and institutions across the country organized debates, quizzes, and essay competitions on the importance of the Constitution. Digital platforms buzzed with hashtags like #ConstitutionDay2024 and SamvidhanDiwas, with citizens sharing messages of pride and unity.
Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, was first observed in 2015 to raise awareness about the Constitution and its significance. This year’s celebrations, marking the 75th milestone, hold special importance as India continues to strengthen its democratic institutions and celebrate its diversity.
As the celebrations conclude, citizens across the nation are reminded of their duties and rights, fostering a collective vision of building a stronger, inclusive India for future generations.
