Kane Williamson Sets an Unprecedented Record in History!
Kane Williamson, the New Zealand batsman, has set a remarkable record by scoring his 33rd Test century during the 3rd Test match against England at Hamilton’s Seddon Park.
In an effort to prevent a whitewash after losing the first two matches, New Zealand aimed to build a significant first innings lead, and Williamson reached this milestone in just 137 balls. Prior to this, the hosts had scored 347 runs, and England was bowled out for just 143 runs.
The former New Zealand captain, Williamson, has already scored seven Test centuries at Hamilton, and he is on the verge of becoming the fourth player in history to have a batting average of over 100 in a single ground (with 15 or more innings played).
Williamson has now earned the distinction of being the first batsman in the 147-year history of Test cricket to score a century in five consecutive matches at the same ground. While players like Michael Clarke (Adelaide), Mahela Jayawardene (Galle), Mominul Haque (Chattogram), and Joe Root (Lord’s) have seven centuries at a single venue, Mahela Jayawardene (11, Colombo SSC), Don Bradman (9, MCG), Jacques Kallis (9, Cape Town), and Kumar Sangakkara (8, Colombo SSC) hold the record for the most centuries at a single ground.
Williamson has also become the first player from New Zealand to score 20 Test centuries. John Wright (10) and Ross Taylor (12) are the only other players to have scored more than 10 Test centuries for New Zealand.

3rd Test: Day 3 End, KL Rahul’s lone fight, India 51/4 Taylor (24) and Williamson have now equalled each other in terms of the most 100+ scores across all formats of cricket.
Other cricketers with more Test centuries in one country than Williamson include Mahela Jayawardene (23), Jacques Kallis (23), Ricky Ponting (23), Kumar Sangakkara (22), Sachin Tendulkar (22), Matthew Hayden (21), and Joe Root (21).
After Sachin Tendulkar (178) and Ricky Ponting (183), Williamson is now the third-fastest player to reach 33 Test centuries, having achieved the feat in 186 innings. This makes Williamson the player with the most Test centuries after 186 innings in the history of the game.
