Mohali: Multi-Storey Building Collapse, Two Dead, Over 10 Feared Trapped
At least 10 people are feared trapped under the debris of a collapsed building. Teams from the Indian Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are engaged in rescue operations.
Chandigarh: In a tragic incident in Mohali, Punjab, a four-story building collapsed, resulting in two fatalities and leaving over 10 individuals feared trapped under the rubble.
The deceased include a 20-year-old woman from Himachal Pradesh identified as Drishti Verma from Theog. She was rescued from the debris in critical condition and immediately rushed to Sohana Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to officials.
Rescue Operations Underway
At least 10 people are believed to be trapped under the debris. The Indian Army and NDRF teams have responded promptly and are actively involved in rescue efforts.

Cause of the Collapse
The tragedy occurred due to excavation work for the construction of another building adjacent to the collapsed structure. This destabilized the foundation, leading to the building’s collapse.
Police have registered a case against the building owners, Parvinder Singh and Gagandeep Singh, under Section 105 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Swift Action by the Indian Army
The Indian Army has deployed 80 personnel from its Engineer Task Force, equipped with specialized tools, to the site. They are working tirelessly through the night to rescue survivors and recover bodies.
