Notice of No-Confidence Against Jagdeep Dhankhar Rejected!
To remove the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, a notice of no-confidence must be submitted at least 14 days in advance. However, the winter session of Parliament concludes tomorrow, December 20.
New Delhi: A notice of no-confidence motion submitted by the opposition demanding the removal of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has been rejected. According to sources, in the decision presented by the Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha, P.C. Mody, the Deputy Chairman stated that the impeachment notice was part of a conspiracy aimed at maligning the country’s constitutional institutions and defaming the current Vice President.
Opposition parties had submitted a notice under Rule 67(b) seeking a no-confidence motion against Dhankhar. This notice was handed over to Rajya Sabha Secretary-General P.C. Mody. As per procedure, a minimum of 14 days’ prior notice is required to introduce such a motion. However, since the winter session of Parliament concludes tomorrow, only six days had elapsed since the notice was submitted.
In reality, the opposition accused Dhankhar of biased behavior in the House. Additionally, the notice had been signed by 60 MPs from opposition parties.
