Real Madrid, however, made headlines for boycotting the ceremony. This absence reportedly stemmed from dissatisfaction after Vinícius Jr., who had been seen as a strong candidate, was not named the winner. Despite the boycott, Real Madrid still received honors, with Carlo Ancelotti awarded Coach of the Year, and the club named Club of the Year, though no representatives attended to accept these accolades

The whole scene created hours before the ceremony as Spanish and European champions said if Vinicius was not the winner, then the award should go to his teammate Dani Carvajal.
