Russia-U.S. Talks End, No Trump-Putin Meeting Next Week: Why Russia Said This?

The talks between Russia and the U.S. held in Saudi Arabia, aimed at discussing the end of the war in Ukraine, have concluded. Ukraine’s officials were not involved in this meeting. President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine stated that if Kyiv was not part of the talks this week, they would not accept any results from the discussions. He also expressed concerns that European allies are sidelining them.
The talks highlighted the clear changes in U.S. foreign policy under Trump’s leadership.
One of the objectives of the meeting was to pave the way for a meeting between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. After the talks ended, Putin’s foreign policy advisor, Yuri Ushakov, informed Russian Channel One that a Trump-Putin meeting has not yet been scheduled, but it would be “impossible” for it to happen next week.
Discontent Among Allies: Feeling Marginalized
The discussions mainly focused on “restoring U.S.-Russia relations, preparing for possible talks to end the war in Ukraine, and organizing a meeting between the two presidents,” according to Yuri Ushakov.
U.S. State Department spokesperson, Tami Bruce, commented that the goal of the meeting was to determine how serious Russia is about peace and whether detailed talks could be initiated.
❗️The meeting between Putin and Trump is unlikely to take place next week: the US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia have ended.
