Tamil Actor, Delhi Ganesh dies at 80, casted in around 400 films:
Delhi Ganesh, a Tamil actor dies at 80. His son took Instagram to announce this on Saturday. His son posted on Insta saying, “We deeply regret to inform that our father Mr. Delhi Ganesh has passed away on 9th November around 11 pm”.
Delhi Ganesh was born on August 1, 1944, in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. He is a gained actor in India, known for his work in Tamil cinema and television. An astoundingly versatile actor, he has effectively played a variety of characters across more than 400 films. From comedy roles and character parts into villainous portrayals, Ganesh more or less has essayed it all. His entry into acting is quite inspiring; first, he worked with the Indian Air Force. Then he followed his heart to join the theater group of master director K. Balachander, which heralded his prolific film career.
Delhi Ganesh made his film debut in Pattina Pravesam (1977), under Balachander’s direction. After that, he grew to be one of the successful character artists of the Tamil cinema industry, especially in the eighties and nineties. Probably, he is best remembered for his work in films like Sindhu Bhairavi(1985), Michael Madana Kama Rajan(1990), and Nayakan(1987) with directors Balachander, Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, and Mani Ratnam, respectively. His roles in these few films proved his mettle as an actor, for he could stage a drama and a comic act with equal deftness, playing the all-important rendering of supporting characters that made Tamil cinema all that interesting. He counts among one of his prime USPs the ability to portray characters suffused with a kind of depth and a sense of relatability that remains in the audiences’ minds long after the curtain has dropped on him. Also, apart from films, television has added more to the audience in the form of popular Tamil serials which have expanded his fan base.
Delhi Ganesh’s dedication and love for acting have won him multiple awards including the Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
