Tarun is not an ISKCON priest

The Bangladesh government has refuted allegations made by Kolkata ISKCON Vice President Radharaman Das regarding the murder of a Hindu community member in Bangladesh.

Dhaka: Bangladesh has clarified that Tarun, who recently fell victim to violence, was not an ISKCON priest, and his death was not due to communal violence. Instead, the government stated that Tarun’s death occurred in connection with a theft case, not communal unrest.

Radharaman Das had previously shared a video on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), alleging that “Tarun Kumar Das, identified as a Hindu priest, was tortured and murdered by tying his hands and feet in Bangladesh.” This statement had sparked widespread outrage in India.

Following this, the Bangladeshi government issued a clarification stating that Tarun Kumar died in connection with a theft incident at a temple in Natore. He was not a Hindu priest.

ISCKON clarifies position Hrishikesh Gauranga Das, a member of ISKCON’s executive committee in Bangladesh, said, “Tarun Kumar had no association with ISKCON or any other religious institutions.”

Natore’s Cremation Committee Secretary General Satya Narayan Roy Tippu also clarified that “Tarun Kumar was not a member of the cremation committee, nor was he a priest. He was mentally unstable.”
