“Thank You, America, For Your Support”: Zelensky’s Response After Clash with Trump

After a tense exchange in the Oval Office, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked President Donald Trump and America for their support.
Washington, DC: After meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in the White House, President Zelensky of Ukraine exited the building, following a heated exchange in the Oval Office. During the meeting, Trump criticized Zelensky, warning that the actions of Ukraine were risking millions of lives and could lead to a Third World War.
In response, Zelensky abruptly left the White House without signing the crucial mineral agreement with the U.S., asserting that Trump’s continued support for Ukraine was a precondition for such agreements, and emphasized the importance of ongoing assistance.
Minutes after leaving the White House, Zelensky took to X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude for America’s support, saying, “Thank you, America, for your support. Thank you for this meeting, and thank you to the U.S. Congress and the American people. Ukraine deserves just and lasting peace, and we are working towards it.”
After the verbal clash in the Oval Office, the joint press conference that was scheduled between Trump and Zelensky was also canceled. Additionally, the planned mineral deal between the U.S. and Ukraine was not finalized, according to White House spokespeople.
The White House statement emphasized that both Trump and Vice President JD Vance would always prioritize the interests of the American people and the respect for America’s position in the world, ensuring that the American public is never taken advantage of.
Ukrainian Public Opinion and Global Tensions
The latest Gallup poll from November indicated that 52% of Ukrainians support a swift resolution to the war, with many believing the country might have to consider conceding some territory for peace. The statement also referred to Trump’s remarks on the potential risks of a Third World War. Trump suggested that the situation in Ukraine could escalate into World War III, beginning in Ukraine, spreading to Israel, and possibly leading to further global conflict, especially if the U.S. stops providing support to Ukraine.
Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people.
