New Delhi: Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma officially divorced on Thursday. In the meantime, an old post from the cricketer’s ex-account has gone viral on social media.
This post, made in 2013, contains a controversial statement about marriage. It reads, “Marriage is when a woman takes on the responsibility of handling a grown-up child who can no longer be managed by his mother.”
The post further states, “When parents can no longer handle a grown-up child, marriage is the decorative term used for adopting him.”
Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma had married in December 2020 in Gurugram, surrounded by close friends and family. By 2023, it was clear that things were not going well between them. By the end of 2023, Yuzvendra had deleted all pictures with Dhanashree Verma from his social media, and both of them unfollowed each other on Instagram.
In February 2025, they jointly filed for divorce at the Bandra Family Court. After living separately for 18 months, Yuzvendra and Dhanashree officially divorced on March 20, 2025.

According to reports, Yuzvendra Chahal has provided Dhanashree Verma with ₹4.75 crore as a settlement.
